I've been sewing, I swear!! In the meantime SOCKS!

I've actually made... or at least started a few things.... but haven't quite finished them. But just as soon as I do I will post them. I promise before this month is out to post a couple of my creations. In the meantime this little project I did for fun will have to suffice. I made a sock-monkey from cute little socks I found at Target. I also decided she needed a little patio skirt/shirt combo. Her out fit actually makes me think of the pattern that is up for giveaway on My Happy Sewing Place blog. Anyway I hope you all like my little project as much as I do.

Ahhh the dreaded "diet"

From the Simpson Wiki
So in keeping with become a more.... chic woman.... I think the overweight business needs to stop. But like most things I dread in life, such as eating better and exercising I need some motivation. Thus an upcoming trip to the windy city is just the motivation I need to lose some weight... so that I may look adorable in those vacation shots. Well, that and with the summer heat, it would be all the more bearable to drop 20 to 30 lbs. So in a terrible last hoorah... I've surrounded myself with ice cream, a coke flavored slushie... and a few other goodies, to bid a farewell too. Tomorrow a sit down breakfast is planned with my boyfriend, not exactly sure what we'll be eating... but i'm thinking some Bob's Red Mill gluten free pancakes and my favorite vegetarian sausages. From that point I intend just to start the rest of the week off as a more conscience eater, recording everything I eat and making better meal choices. I intend to get in 3 runs this week and lastly by the end of the week map out a meal plan for next week. Also I can solemly promiss this: I will not have soda anymore this week. And after this week I will only allow one soda a week... and maybe in time one every month. I intend to stop drinking soda. I gave it up for 2 years in highschool and didn't miss it then, so I'm sure I can do it again.

Home made wall art!

Today, with my day off I got quite creative. I stopped by the craft store and bought some fancy scrap booking paper. I also went to the local goodwill and bought some old frames complete with bad prints. I then sandpapered them down and spray painted them silver with some spray-paint I had lying around. I then got to work on making my own silhouette art.I used photos of myself and my boy and made silhouette cut outs and then glued them on contrasting paper. I'm rather thrilled with the finished work and how easy these were to make. They look smashing in my new sewing studio!

i've been sewing I swear

I've been sewing very little these last couple of months. But here is some proof of what sewing I have done. It's a very late x-mas gift that I finally finished. Better late then never, right? In addition to this apron, I've made some curtains for my new house. It's been a never-ending move. Two months later and there are still lots of stuff to unpack and pictures to hang and furniture to arrange. One of the project I really can't wait to complete is my sewing room. But you know it may be years till I get that the way I love it. I'll post pictures of what it looks like so far, although I want to wait to document it till I make nice curtains for it. Anyway on to my next sewing project, a gingham shirt for myself.

My x-mas gifts

My Christmas loot is as follows:
1. A new cell phone (much needed after my old one broke. Thanks Mom) Did I memtion it's a data phone. It does so much more then my old phone. I'm still learning about it.
2. A new serger!! Also it's my first serger!! It's a singer simple serger.
3. I received my Great Granny's old vintage Kenmore sewing machine!!!
4. To go with my serger, I get a sewing/painting studio!!! My Gentleman and I are now homeowners!!! Yeh!!! I just finished painting the room that will be a shared studio space for my Boy and I, as we are both creative beings. He was nice enough to let me pick the color. While the color may look a bit overwhelming in this picture, when I have my art up and such it will look perfect.

 5. And with the cash my pop's sent as a gift, I got this super awesome vintage coat today at the thrift store.
On a related note, at the thrift store today, they had a whole assortment of old sewing machine, the best being this one,.... a Singer treadle, that I really want!! But as a new homeowner I don't think it's wise for me to buy another sewing machine.... especially an old sewing machine that may or may not work.

Isn't it gorgeous!!!
